SNOWpocalypse 2011
Yesterday we had about 7" of snow dumped on us in a record-breaking October snowstorm! Today I walked around the neighborhood to see all the damage. We still have power, thankfully, but there are a lot of tree branches down:
I was driving around yesterday (got my only real haircut in 3.5 years; it was free; I donated 13") and was in my first-ever car accident (it was just a fender bender, no injuries). A young lady who has probably never driven in snow in her life, slid into my car and her license plate decoration- a ROW OF SPIKES- was impaled in my bumper. What fun!

NaNoWriMo
This November I'm participating in National Novel Writing Month! It's pretty straightforward: from Nov. 1 thru Nov. 30, I (and about 200,000 other writers) will attempt to write a 50,000 word fiction novel.
In one month. 50,000 words. Sounds crazy, doesn't it? (By the way, that's about 108 pages, single spaced in Word) (!!!!)
Everyone out there seems to be working on a novel-- including myself. However, all I've got are a few pages of ideas, a list of characters and zero plot, and it's been in progress for a while. So when I heard about NaNoWriMo a few years ago, I thought "this is such an awesome idea!" but immediately forgot about it. The next year I suddenly remembered about it-- during the month of November. This year I saw it in my bookmarks in September and decided I was actually going to sign up!
So November is just a few days away and the experts recommend trying to bang out like 25,000 words the first week. I'm very scared. Very excited, but very, very scared.

Take a Guess!
I challenge you to guess what the subject of this unedited picture is / how I took this photo. (I cropped out a lot more black all around, but did no color corrections or other editing of any kind.)

gra·tu·i·tous self portrait
gra·tu·i·tous - (adj) : Uncalled for; lacking good reason; unwarranted.
I miss those sunglasses. They were sturdy and unscratched and I lost them because of karma.

Rings & Springs
I've been going through some of my old photos and finding some random ones. I know this was taken by the baseball fields by our old house, but I have no idea what these are. I think they were attached to a soccer goal post but....

For Mom
I used my cell phone flipped open to write this sentence. The keypad has a blue back light, so that's how I got both colors!

Fables and Flowers
Kind of looks photoshopped or something, yes? Took this a long time ago, before I knew how to use macro. Could probably use a good cropping.
