Focus Feature
Yay! My new camera lets me change the depth of field! That is my hand and very long, skinny fingers framing my brother, who lets me use him as a model.

Oh Christmas Tree...
I got a new camera for Christmas! It's a Nikon Coolpix L22, it's red and I like it a LOT! There are a couple of features that this camera does not have that I miss, but it makes up for it with 12 megapixels, a screen that's almost 3" and being about half as thick!
This is our Christmas tree, under which my camera waited for me. :-)

Local Vegetation
Not sure what the correct name for these plants are, but they are pretty! This was taken in October during a walk around the block.

Bear in the Front Yard
Over the summer, my mom noticed a car hovering around the front of the house. They drove slowly by then a few minutes later they drove back in the opposite direction. They stopped a few times and by then my mom was curious enough to need to know what in the world they were looking at. She went through the garage and just past the bumper of her car stood a massive bear. She promptly did an about-face and was in the house in about 2 seconds flat.
Then we got out the cameras.Oh, that doesn't look that big, you say. Well look at THIS:
This was my very first in-the-wild bear sighting and I didn't turn the flash of my camera off, which is why it's so washed out. Who cares, look at that huge animal!

Creative Christmas Wrapping, part 3
This box is a smaller size which means the star in the center is a lot bigger. Instead of trying to make it blend in or add huge letters to match the scale, I decided to just go with it. It's now a shooting star!
And, as ever, there's the holly:

Creative Christmas Wrapping, part 2
For the next present, I decided to try something similar but new! So, you can see I snaked "Merry Christmas" around the box, drew some more holly and added some dashes and dots for fun.
I thought it was a little odd to end the box with "CHRI-" so I continued the rest of it down the side.

Christmas Presents!
I got a jump start on Christmas presents this year and thus I also got a jump on wrapping my presents as well. My brothers both got their gifts wrapped in plain white boxes from Macy's, but instead of wrapping them in paper, I decided to decorate them with marker.
For the first box, I had this vision of No Doubt's Rock Steady album in my mind so I printed "Merry Christmas" a million times across the box. I wrote the recipient's name in green for contrast and had intended to keep printing more "merry Christmas's" for the rest of the box, then decided the holly would be a little simpler.
I know everything is a little bit cock-eyed, but I think it's fine. I KNOW Adam won't mind (or probably even notice!)

The Same Foggy Morning
This one was also taken out of my car window, just rolling down my street. I think it looks awesome!

One Foggy Morning
I woke up one morning and was amazed at how dense the fog was. I didn't have much time before work to wander around taking pictures, so as I drove up the street, I stuck my arm and camera out of the window and just snapped a few.

He Really, Really Hates Me
I believe that is every single toy or doggy bone he has, piled up around him. The sound that goes along with this picture is "wah-wah-wah-waah"

Recipe for Onion Rings
Cut up a large onion into quarter inch slices and separate into rings. Make a massive pile.
In one bowl, pour about 1/2 cup of milk. In another bowl, add about a half cup of flour and a pinch of salt.
Plug in your electric skillet and add enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom.
Now the fun part: using a fork, take a ring and dip it in the milk. Let it drip off, then coat it with the flour mixture. Repeat, so the onion has been dipped in each bowl twice, using differnt forks for each bowl.
Add to hot oil and cook until golden brown, flipping as needed. Drain on a paper towel, salt to taste and ENJOY!
[I had an onion that started to sprout (as you can see in the upper left corner) and I cut off the bottom, as it was still edible, and used the sprouts as green onions! MMM!]

This is what kind of photo I'm into right now, I guess. First it was flowers, then American flags and now it's trees.

Video Series - Whale sharks in Japan
Kuroshio Sea - 2nd largest aquarium tank in the world - (song is Please don't go by Barcelona) from Jon Rawlinson on Vimeo.
Really cool aquarium that's in Okinawa, Japan. That piece of glass is about a foot thick, 25 feet tall and almost 75 feet long! The tank holds nearly 2 billion gallons of water and is the home of whale sharks and manta rays. Read more on Wikipedia.

Rainy Streets of NYC
It's kind of hard to take a good picture while walking quickly in the rain, at night. This was the first one I took, though and I think it came out pretty cool!
